I could tell you, but then you would know

Digitization, flexibilization, and the increasing precarization of the labor market are becoming ever more apparent in urban systems and the organization of space. Symptomatic of these spatial shifts is the dissolution of boundaries between leisure and work, privacy and the public sphere. This generates new markets for micro-infrastructures and their algorithmic dissemination, whose structures are increasingly inscribed into the urban fabric.

Against this backdrop, the video essay "I could tell you, but then you would know" takes generic settings — which at first glance cannot be assigned to any specific context or purpose — as a starting point to examine the structures behind temporarily usable urban spaces such as sleeping pods, co-working spaces, or so-called "meditation domes." Through these semi-public spaces, situated between retreat, efficiency maximization, and self-optimization, the narrative approaches the stories of those who spend time in them by the hour.
